Home
House in limbo
I've seen it
What it is
No boundary
Moments like this
Not about you
When I fell
Down the hatch
Confucius’ Fuchsias
I found a letter

I Found A Letter
©2002 Amy Fabry

I found a letter in the drawer
In the corner of the room
Could barely see it
Until I freed it, so I could read it
Opened the letter and read her story
Through the smudges of her tears
And all the scratchin’ over written fears

I wanted to know more
And every hurried word I read
Echoed in my head
Echoed in my head

A testimony of a young love
All the heartache, give-and-take
She finally figured out
Love is never as easy as it seems
Throughout her letter
All her anger felt familiar to me
Made me remember how we used to be

Still I wanted to know more
And every hurried word I read
Echoed in my head
Echoed in my head

I found a letter in the drawer
In the corner of the room
And for one final time
I held it close like a faded valentine
Returned my letter to the drawer
In the corner of the room
Maybe I’ll meet myself again soon
