About Amy

Amy's obsession with music developed very early in childhood.  At age 3, Amy would dance for hours in the basement to the groovy sounds of her parents' prized jazz album collection.  Her very earliest musical memories include singing along to 70's radio hits and her big brother's K-Tel records.  She began playing piano at age 5 which led to formal lessons at age 7.  At the age of 10, she began learning the saxophone and expressing herself through songwriting.  Although her earliest influences stem from the 70's singer-songwriter period (i.e. Carole King), Amy's musical tastes are quite eclectic.  This, no doubt, stems from her time spent living in France, working as a buyer in the music industry, and struggling with an amusing but time-consuming Internet addiction to all things musical (a music junkie's perfect drug!).

Amy released her well-received first album, Cultivated Pearl, in 2002. These days you can find her working on her second album coming Fall 2007. Stay tuned!

About the band

  • James Lupino          Guitar

"As an artist, I believe I must allow myself to listen to the spirits from the past, not only the ones directly from my life, but also the spirits of the artists and non artists who influenced me growing up and as I paid attention helped me develop as an artist.  From Frank Sinatra and Buddy Ebsen, to the Beatles and Topscat and Jim Morrison, to Springsteen and the Mesquitoes, to U2 and Candy Corpse.  When in Nashville, I visited RCA's Studio B.  Well, the charge I felt when I walked into the studio and stood where Elvis and the Everlys stood, though obviously not at the same time, was BAM!  Elvis was there I tell you that.  Not your weird typical Elvis sighting, but his spirit.  It was rich, deep, and very present."   (This is how James Lupino answers the question:  "What time is rehearsal?")  Jim has been practicing Holistic 6 string healing with the group since 2002.

  • Kent Peterson          Bass

Kent Peterson is a popular musician, engineer, and producer in the Midwest.  After spending the 1970's piloting dirigibles for LTAA, Kent moved into the far more lucrative field of "delivering sailboats" based out of Puerto Rico.  Here, after discovering the lilting sounds of the steel drum, Kent spent 2 years as the musical director for the short lived sitcom "The Commander Speaks."  After the 1996 cancellation of the TV show, Kent moved to Minneapolis where he has since made a living (more or less) as a local musical luminary, working with acts as well known as "The Funtastics", "Sonyc Hobby" and "Buttwynd."  Kent is often described by the other band members as being "Kind of a thinking man's Sting."

  • Dave Brewster         Drums

Dave Brewster was born in Brugge, Belgium in 1963.  After studying lute and Baroque music for many years, his love for composing and performing contemporary solo guitar music while wearing frilly shirts prevailed.  Dave received accolades for his shirts throughout Eastern Europe in the Spring of 1989, but had  an unfortunate encounter with a falling lighting truss, which tragically severed his melodic appendage.  Dave began anew and spent the mid to late nineties as a cruise ship drummer in a Peaches and Herb tribute band.  (Groove Thing!)  Circumstances created by the Dramamine embargo of the mid 1990's forced Dave into taking a land locked career path.  Dave moved to Minneapolis in 1998 and has been with the group since early 2002.

  • John Schech            Percussion

Hailing from Moosejaw Saskatchewan, John Schech brings a wealth of musical attributes to the Amy Fabry musical stage.  Under his steely concentrated gaze lies a diehard Carmen Miranda fan - which brings a true fruitiness to his dazzling display of syncopated counterpunctuation.  Once listed in "Playboy's Book of Notable Musicians", John has been known to intersperse rock solid percussion meter with the winsome strains of the penny whistle.  Taken together, no blender set to "puree" could mimic the noises emanating from within this percussive typhoon.  Currently under gene therapy to reduce the enormous size of his grotesquely misshapen left foot, John is realizing the benefits of a 3rd arm growing from the side of his neck stating, "I can play shaker, tambourine, AND hold a cocktail?!"
